FMU W14 General Development Plan

The General Development Plan (GDP) gives a comprehensive description of a timber disposition holder’s proposed timber operations for up to five years, and may include proposed temporary camps (<12 months) and temporary log storage sites. The GDP provides the operational link to the spatial harvest sequence (SHS) and commitments of the Forest Management Plan (FMP) and is a tool for communicating where forestry operations will occur. It is at this stage that the approved SHS is refined to meet the operational requirements of the operator and additional details regarding the location of structures and facilities are provided.

The GDP assists the timber disposition holder in the integration of timber operations with other timber disposition holders and forest resource users, and ensures that issues and concerns are identified and addressed early in the planning process to an appropriate level of detail. The GDP is also the stage in operational planning in which Indigenous consultation is conducted.
